The course aims to help older adults recognise common love scam tactics, understand potential risks and consequences, and develop practical strategies for protecting themselves online.

Module 1 – The Psychology Behind Love Scams
This module explores love scams from a psychological perspective. It explains why people can become involved in fraudulent online relationships, how scammers exploit emotional needs and vulnerabilities, and which psychological signs may indicate that someone is becoming a victim.
Module 2 – Recognising Love Scammers
This module focuses on how to identify a love scammer and recognise suspicious behaviour. It looks at the platforms commonly used by scammers, the ways in which fraudulent relationships are created and developed, and how people should behave when interacting with a potentially fraudulent person, including when an online relationship moves towards an in-person meeting.
Module 3 – Prevention, Warning Signs and Good Practices
The final module focuses on practical prevention strategies. The module also draws on statistics and experiences from the partner organisations, helping learners connect the theoretical knowledge with real-world situations.
